Our Services

Education

Helping children and young people learn, achieve and build a better future through education support, recognition and awareness.

Overview

Every Child Deserves a Fair Start

Education is the foundation of everything ASWA does. It is how families break the cycle of poverty and how communities rebuild after hardship.

Three decades of conflict and social division left many families in Sri Lanka behind in schooling. Children missed classes, families could not afford books or uniforms, and many talented students had no one to encourage them to continue.

Since 2010, ASWA's graduates and undergraduate volunteers have worked to close that gap. We support students with learning materials and guidance, recognise achievement through the ASWA Awards, and run awareness programmes that help families make informed decisions about health, safety and education.

Our graduates give back what they learned, so the next generation can go further.

Why It Matters

Why Education Support Matters

Many families want their children to succeed in school but face barriers they cannot overcome alone.

Cost of schooling

Books, stationery, uniforms and transport add up quickly for low-income families, and children drop out when they cannot keep up.

Lack of guidance

First-generation students often have nobody at home who can advise them on exams, subjects or higher education.

Low motivation

Without encouragement or recognition, capable students lose confidence and give up early.

What We Do

Our Education Programmes

School Support

Learning materials, stationery and essentials for students from families in need, so cost is never the reason a child stops learning.

ASWA Awards

An annual awards ceremony that celebrates outstanding students and young entrepreneurs, motivating others to aim higher.

Mentoring & Guidance

Graduate volunteers advise students on exams, subject choices, university entry and career paths.

Awareness Seminars

Community seminars on health, safety and social issues for students, parents and teachers.

Exam Preparation

Support and encouragement for students preparing for key national examinations.

Children in Care

Learning support and encouragement for children living in care homes in Kattankudy.
